Hi! My name is Sage. I am a Pibble mix who hails from Dinwiddie VA where my mama, me and my three sisters were rescued. I was born in January 2021, so I am about 4+ months old now. You can see pictures of me and my current roommates here on my webpage. We are really good friends and they have taught me a lot of good things and probably some not so good things!

When I was rescued, the world was a really scary place for me and still is a little bit. I love my foster family and I am adjusting well with them. I am respectful of everybody’s space unless my zoomies get in the way, then they may have to do a little ‘schooling’ so I’ll settle down. But that’s all it takes and I immediately mind my manners. I am very comfortable in the house and outside on the deck. Champ, my foster brother is teaching me Doggie 101…how to play with toys, how to share, how to take treats and how to work for them. When I first got here, I found all these wonderful things so, I started hoarding them in my room. And my foster siblings tried to make me feel more welcome so, they gave me all the toys! Then they taught me what sharing was. My training is coming along pretty well. My current command is Sit…no question I know what that means. I am working diligently on Down, Shake, Drop, Leave It, Kisses, Bedtime and Touch. I am still very resistant to Come but Foster Mom says Touch will do for now!

I go on leash walks by myself and with my foster family. To go by myself, conditions Must Be Perfect…no strangers, no moving cars, no loud noises. If I am with one of my foster siblings, I can tolerate those things a little bit better but not much. The scary outdoor world and me are still a work in progress. But Foster Mom says I am a great little pup on leash. I walk with her and check in with her and enjoy our time outside…most of the time.

We also have cats here so, I am learning to be a ‘respectful.’ I am curious but they spit and hiss and have pointy things so, they get no argument from me! I am a quick learner that way. I sleep in my own room at night and understand that it is “My Room.” So when they tell me “Sage, go to your room or bed time” I’m there! Treats must be involved!
